As > with pretty much any discipline, music and art have their own vocabulary. > Today, we challenge you to take inspiration from this glossary of musical > terms, or this glossary of art terminology, and write a poem that uses > a new-to-you word. For (imaginary) extra credit, work in a phrase from, > or a reference to, the Florentine Codex. Yesterday, I learned of the recent passing of Nigel Hickson. Nigel was a giant of the global Internet Governance community. I had just met him in-person for the first time in mid-March, in Seattle, where he was still as hard-working, witty and insightful as ever. He was a true Mensch, he almost seemed to me like someone out of a movie, I could hardly believe there were still people like him who dedicate their whole life so selflessly to public service. He was kind and thoughtful and will be deeply missed. I couldn't help but think of him when responding to today's prompt. When I met him a few weeks ago For the first and last time He was not Grave (An Italian word, Used as an indication of tempo and mood meaning slow and serious) He was Vivace, Troppo - fast but not too much. Exuding scherzo, light-heartedness And, above all, Humoreske A beautiful Sinfonia of a man A primo uomo Decrescendo, Rallentando, Silencio.
