Where time goes to rest
A place where snow meets tree leaves
Where rugged, icicled nest
Sits vacant, while the birds peck

Hard soil, and hard won praise
From that old boss
Drudging and tilling, rising
dough in warm oven.

A steady pause, resolute
The time before time wakes again
Where snowflake lies mute
In ragged nest's embrace
