Four swans across three loughs
and many millennia
Amongst themselves they talk
In gentle whispers

Bearing no grudges, no recall
of the day they were cast
in form of swan, to trawl
muddied waters

For nine hundred years.
And longer than that
What do they say? "My dear,
remember us well."
