The imagery of the poem is dreamlike, but the situation > it describes is otherwise presented quite straightforwardly. Today, we > challenge you to write your own poem that takes place at night, and > describes something magical or strange that happens but that no one is > awake (or around) to notice. In the sea, glowing fish rises towards to the surface, closer to white light-bulb moon. A horse sleeping on Kildare grass swishes its tail as consciousness rises above silvery fields Rises to meet that bright night cocooning old figures etched and woven in pillowy blanket Of stars and space debris While deep-sea fish lowers its skyward gaze Ashamed at sight of horse's dream, and light-clad sky Where nothing is what it seems.
