I have a theory. Hear me out.
Something strange happened recently. I was passing by the bathroom and the door was open. Olive was there brushing her teeth. I caught a glimpse of her in the mirror. Our eyes locked for a moment, then she bent down to spit. During that moment when our eyes locked, I saw my daughter as someone else, someone from the past. I think it was Ruby. I think she looks exactly like Ruby.
She’s twenty five now. Almost the age Ruby was when she disappeared. But, that was so long ago, and I can’t be sure if what I saw was real.
When I try to picture Ruby, I see my daughters face.
I mentioned something about it to Pink. She thinks I’m going crazy. Maybe I am.
Anyway, my theory is that Ruby has been here the whole time. She has somehow managed to possess our daughter.
Does that sound crazy?
I mean, I’m not sure exactly how it would work. But the resemblance is too uncanny.
