Five Answers to the Same Question
There was a great prompt today, inspired by a wonderful poem by Faisal Mohyuddin. The challenge was to write a poem that provides five answers to the same question.
I.
It comes from the sky
II.
From the never-ending
variations
of temperature
III.
From the slope of earth
and support of rock
and serpentine streams
IV.
It comes from deep underground
and from the kitchen sink
and from the lighted shelves
of convenience stores
V.
It comes from a flask
and from a hole in the dirt
and from the tired waiter
free of charge
