Cento for Wallace Stevens
Phew! I made it! I still can’t believe I managed to write a poem a day for the whole month of April! I went with the daily prompt for this last poem. The prompt was to write a ‘cento’ - a poem composed of lines from other poems. Since the only poetry book I have around at the moment is a Wallace Steves one, I decided to use all lines from his poems for this.
The poems I used were:
- Dance of the Macabre Mice
- The Place of the Solitaires
- Things of August
- Loneliness in Jersey City
This dance has no name. It is a hungry dance.
Whether it be in mid-sea
Or in the penumbra of summer night-
The deer and the dachshund are one.
