Quiet Admiration
Today, we’d like to challenge you to write your own sonnet. Incorporate tradition as much or as little as you like – while keeping in general to the theme of “love.”
We were in touch again recently
Via video conferencing tools
Your voice, older now, blended sweetly with
low latency digital artifacts.
We "caught up" with each other, as they say
I stared and wondered as I always did
If you knew then, knew now, about the way
I felt about you, fifteen years ago.
And still, to this day, I feel drawn to your
beauty which had once been the reason for
my existence, a burst of light in near
darkness. A second birth, a call to arms.
I did nothing with this love. I could not
translate feeling into words or action.
I remained passive, respectful, and yet
it acted, and continues to act, on me.
